When the mains supply is present, the internal charging circuit maintains the rechargeable battery. If normal power is interrupted, the emergency circuit uses stored battery energy to keep the sign visible for up to three hours. The 3.7V 1500mAh rechargeable battery is contained within the luminaire, avoiding the need for a separate external battery box.
